Fort Lauderdale, FL, January 22, 2018 –(PR.com)– The Silicon Beach Film Festival is an annual film festival organized by Jon Gursha and Peter Greene to foster up and coming independent filmmakers from across the globe. As an extension of the Silicon Beach Film Festival that originated on the Westside of Los Angeles, the 2018 edition of the event is scheduled to be held in Miami/Fort Lauderdale, between the 9th and 12th of February and submissions are currently open for the festival. The Festival will then return to Los Angeles in April.

Independent and up and coming filmmakers often find it difficult to compete with the heavyweights in the industry, as it is more difficult to give their works the desired exposure to reach an audience. The relatively high cost of promoting movies and the intense competition in the industry has led to many quality films never making it into the mainstream and attracting an audience.

Jon Gursha and Peter Greene, therefore, created the Silicon Beach Film Festival with the primary purpose of promoting talented up and coming and independent filmmakers from the US as well as different countries across the globe. Over the years, the film festival has featured and rewarded excellent films, while giving those involved with them much needed exposure.

With a focus on technology and film, the festival has become one of the much-anticipated events of the year, drawing the attention of new and established filmmakers, actors, and other stakeholders in the industry across the globe. The Silicon Beach Film Festival Miami/Fort Lauderdale is part of the expansion plans of the team behind the Silicon Beach Film Festival.

The launch of the event is an extension of the success of the original Silicon Beach Film Festival in Los Angeles and its partnerships with movie theaters. The screening for the upcoming film festival will be held at the beautiful Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale. The extended deadline for submissions is February 2, 2018, with notifications scheduled to be sent on the 3rd of February 2018.

Organizers of the event have stated that film submission does not guarantee festival acceptance or screening, even as acceptance does not guarantee award or prize. Interested participants are required to pay a nonrefundable submission fee to get their work screened. Interested filmmakers can submit their works on https://filmfreeway.com/SiliconBeachFilmFestivalMiami. More information about the festival can be found on the festival’s Facebook Twitter and Instagram accounts.
