Two University Students Combine Their Passions and Interests to Serve and Inspire Others

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, March 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — The Law Offices of Anidjar & Levine congratulates Arisa Chue and Alex Greenlund as the 2023 Anidjar & Levine Community Service Scholarship winners. The law firm awards the $2,500 honor to deserving students pursuing a higher education who have aligned their personal career goals and aspirations with their community service efforts.

The Florida-based personal injury law firm believes service benefits the community and the person giving back. Young people who engage in volunteer work will develop their sense of personal development, leadership abilities, and work ethic as they continue serving others into adulthood.

Chue is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in computer science at Stanford University and expects to graduate in June 2025. Alex Greenlund is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in sports management at Indiana University Bloomington and expects to graduate in May 2026.

Scholarship Winners Use Their Talents and Interests to Inspire Others

Arisa Chue knows what it means to be one of few women pursuing studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). As the president of the organization Women Interested in Science and Engineering (WISE), she has set out to encourage her peers and future women scientists. She also has worked with elementary school girls to encourage their STEM interests through structured weekly lab sessions.

When in-person tutoring was an option due to COVID-19, she made it a priority to continue working with students. “I coordinated with Weyanoke [Elementary School]’s bus delivery service to send materials for our take-home lab demonstrations,” she writes in her scholarship essay. “We tried to replicate our in-person labs; we turned on cameras and created breakout rooms as we conducted the labs with the Weyanoke girls over video, conveying our energy for STEM to the younger generation during this time of isolation.”

Chue also works with K-12 students to encourage their science interests as part of Stanford University’s Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

Alex Greenlund Uses Golf Game to Encourage Others to Perform Their Best

Alex Greenlund, a varsity golf athlete, helped develop younger golf players during his service with the Junior Golf Foundation of America. He served as a lead golf camp counselor, empowering others within the sport. “I was responsible for leading junior golf camp attendees through various drills, contests, and skill development lessons. Using positive and encouraging techniques through these activities helped me to empower younger golfers to gain confidence in themselves. This confidence allowed them to feel successful and motivated them to want to become better.”

The foundation recognized Greenlund for his service by awarding him The Volunteer of the Year Award in 2018. He also received the Coach’s Award for Leadership in 2019 for encouraging his team during practices and competitive matches. Off of the course, Greelund oversaw fundraising and education initiatives for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year Campaign.

“I had a deep, personal connection to the disease and was a witness to the toll that it took on patients and their families. I was able to transform a negative personal experience into a positive outcome for so many others,” he writes in his scholarship essay.
