WASHINGTON, DC, March 24, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — This private event Kicks off the weekend on Friday, April 25, 2025 – Pre- Masquerade Ball Networking soirée leading up to the 4th Annual Sierra Leone independence Masquerade Ball! Mingle with industry leaders, showcase your business, and connect with key stakeholders in a warm, culturally rich setting that celebrates Sierra Leonean excellence at Air Restaurant & Lounge is Located in the Historic Adams Morgan District, in Washington, DC, owned by a proud Sierra Leonean entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are invited to enter the “Pitch Your Business Competition”. The winner will have the exclusive opportunity to be showcased at the 4th Annual Sierra Leone Independence Masquerade Ball! Attendees are encouraged to wear African fabric-inspired attire to honor Sierra Leone’s rich heritage and culture.

On Saturday, April 26th, the main event will be the 4th Annual Sierra Leone Independence Masquerade Ball, in Oxon Hill, MD with QUEENNAK, Sierra Leone’s Afrobeat superstar, headlining the event. QueenNak, known for blending Afrobeat with her Sierra Leonean roots, will deliver a mesmerizing performance that promises to captivate and energize the audience. QueenNak’s electrifying performance is set to be the highlight of the evening, marking an unforgettable experience for all attendees. This is a unique opportunity to network with influential figures in entertainment as QueenNak will also bring representatives from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Beverly Hills to the event.

Guests are encouraged to dress to impress in traditional and modern attire for a night of elegance, heritage, and celebration. The theme, “Celebrating Sierra Leone’s 16 Tribes and Districts: Where Elegance Meets Tradition,” will showcase our diverse cultures through music, fashion, and vibrant performances. This event aims to highlight the unity and shared identity within this diversity, while also fostering connections with other African, carribean, afrolatino countries and the diaspora. Honoring some of our heroes in the Sierra Leonean community. Guests will also have the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents by participating in our masquerade mask competition. The most creative male and female masquerade masks will each receive a cash prize of $250. Cultural performances by the Lek U Culture Assocation dance group and musical performances from Sierra Leonean artists will be presented to entertain our guests. Together, we will celebrate the unity that exists within our diversity, forging lasting relationships that transcend borders.

In addition to QueenNak, Oltanie Charles, a Haitian-American multi-talented star, will also perform live at the Masquerade Ball. Oltanie, an entrepreneur, realtor, tax preparer, singer, songwriter, actress, model, beauty expert, hairstylist, makeup artist, esthetician, massage therapist, and investor, is known for her diverse talents and unique ability to blend culture and creativity in everything she does. Her vibrant energy and inspiring journey will add a special touch to the event, making this a celebration to remember.

The weekend will culminate with the Sierra Leone Independence Parade and Unifest Festival on Sunday, April 27that the Baysox Stadium in Bowie, Maryland. The festival, in collaboration with USA Paddle DMV, will be a cultural explosion, featuring live performances, vibrant fashion, food, and music that honor Sierra Leone’s rich heritage and its continued journey toward unity and prosperity.

Distinguished Guests and Special Appearances.
Dr. Kadijatu Grace Ahene Kamara, the Deputy Minister of Tourism & Cultural Affairs of Sierra Leone, will serve as the Distinguished Guest of Honor for the weekend’s celebrations. Dr. Kamara, a passionate advocate for youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism, will also lead several discussions on the role of cultural industries in national development.

Dr. Kamara’s leadership continues to inspire future generations, and her extensive work in youth development and mental health makes her a fitting representative for Sierra Leone’s independence celebration. As the founder of several impactful initiatives, Dr. Kamara’s presence at this celebration highlights the importance of cultural heritage in building a better future for Sierra Leone.

Edna Liliana Valencia, a prominent Afro-Colombian journalist and advocate for Afro-descendant communities, will also join the celebration. Edna, whose journey of connecting with her Sierra Leonean roots has been a dream come true, will bring her advocacy and passion for cultural unity to the event. Her powerful work in Afro-Latin American studies and her contributions to representation in media make her an invaluable voice at this celebration.
