Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith might be spending the Oscars weekend in a quaint British seaside town.
The 47-year-old actor hit the headlines when he and Jada announced their intention to boycott the Academy Awards later this month due to the lack of diversity among the nominees.
Now the pair has a free weekend coming up when the rest of Hollywood will be walking the red carpet, they have been invited to spend their time at Butlin’s in Bognor Regis, England.
Will first learned about the much-loved Butlin’s resorts when he once appeared on The Graham Norton Show with Catherine Zeta-Jones – who competed in a talent contest at the Minehead resort back in 1979 and reached the final.
The topic of Butlin’s arose again during an interview with Absolute Radio earlier this month.
When Will was asked if he’d like to visit one of the resorts, he replied: “If you can find me a nice place, I’d definitely come and visit!”
Following Will’s comments, Butlin’s have been in touch and offered the actor and his family an open invitation to visit any of their three seaside resorts whenever they fancy it.
“We can always find a ‘nice place’ for Will and his family, however knowing he and Jada have a free weekend at the end of February as they have chosen not to attend the Oscars ceremony, they are more than welcome to come and enjoy our ‘Here and Now – The Very Best of the 80s weekend’ in Minehead,” Butlin’s MD Dermot King said. “It’s a musical era Will is very familiar with.”
