WASHINGTON, DC, February 20, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Today, U.S. Term Limits announces that Liz Whitmer Gereghty has agreed to be the New York State Chair for U.S. Term Limits. Gereghty brings a depth of both private and public service to this role. In this role she will lead U.S. Term Limits’ efforts in New York to secure term limits for the statewide offices of Governor, Attorney General, and Comptroller in the Empire State.
“I am very honored to be serving as the New York State Chair for U.S. Term Limits,” said Liz Geregthy “Now more than ever before, the need for term limits is crystal clear. Polls show that the one issue all New Yorkers regardless of political affiliation are united about is the need for term limits.
“So many people feel disconnected with our state government feeling that their votes have no impact, and the political process only serves a privileged few” concluded Gereghty. “Term limits will help level the playing field and make our state government work better for all New Yorkers.”

Liz Whitmer Gereghty grew up in Michigan and attended Michigan State University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs. While in college, she interned for First Lady Hillary Clinton and Michigan Senator Carl Levin.
After graduation Liz worked with the Democratic National Committee and on the Illinois Coordinated Campaign in Chicago helping to elect Sen Dick Durbin to the US Senate. In 1997, Liz went back to school to get her MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. It was at Duke that Liz met her husband and after graduation they moved to New York City. In New York City, she worked as Marketing Director at Madison Square Garden/Radio City Entertainment. In 2003, she and her growing family moved to the Lower Hudson Valley.
She opened a Best of Westchester winning store in Katonah creating jobs in the local community. Long active in her community she served on the Board of the Community Center of Northern Westchester from 2016-2022 and was elected to the KLSD school board in 2019 and re-elected in 2022 and chaired the Facilities and Finance Committees where one of her key accomplishments was in passing a first in decades bond for the school. She was most recently a Democratic congressional candidate is New York’s Seventeenth Congressional District.
