In addition to removing evidence there are also questions surrounding why Hawaiian Electric didn’t turn off power due to high winds. Maui County has filed a lawsuit against Hawaiian Electric for not turning off the power knowing high winds were expected and for not properly maintaining vegetation near the power lines and the substation.
